Safe Destinations for Your Summer Travel
We’re going to remember the summer of 2022 as a scorcher. Central Texas has taken much of the brunt of it, with cities like Austin recording the hottest month of July in recorded history, with the mercury climbing above 100 degrees on 29 of 31 days. That type of extreme heat can pose significant health risks, from dehydration to heat stroke respiratory disorders. This summer, you want to head north to get a respite from the weather. Here are some great destinations:
-
The shores of Lake Superior in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan—For an extremely affordable vacation in a much cooler climate, you can’t beat the “Iron Range” along the south shore of mighty Lake Gitchegumie.
Temperatures typically hover around 80 degrees and the humidity is rarely above 5%. The lake is crystal clear, but cool…water temps are usually around 65-68. You’ll find state parks virtually lining the shoreline.
- Seattle—The Pacific Northwest Stream keeps the temperature right around 75 most of the summer in Seattle, and there’s lots to do here, from the world- famous Pike Place Market to the Space Need and the largest ferris wheel on the West Coast.
- The Wisconsin Dells—Known as the Waterpark Capital of the World, with more than 20 different splash parks, the Dells stay in the 70s and low 80s throughout the summer.
